I grew up in a strange family, my mom and Grandfather would put pepper on their french toast ????
I remember thinking this was normal – until i was told otherwise by friends in high school and university. Now don’t get me wrong I still enjoy pepper on my french toast but I have also come to love a sweeter french toast, like this Easy French Vanilla French Toast.
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
1/4 teaspoon Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
6 slices bread
Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Melt butter in skillet over medium-high heat. Dip bread slices in egg mixture and brown each side in skillet. Serve with maple syrup.
Now I found this recipe on the food network site but I made a few small changes. I added in some 1 tbsp of brown sugar to the mix for some extra sweetness. I also use fresh Challah (or Jewish Egg Bread) for my french toast, as it is a slightly sweeter bread and makes some of the best breakfasts. I also like to top mine with french toast and fresh raspberries 🙂
I believe you should make your french toast your own. How do you make your french toast?
